News from NaNoLand!
What is NaNoWriMo? National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30. Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel.
Camp NaNoWriMo has just wrapped up and now is the time to start thinking about plots for November. Start those wheels turning and work on a plot, outline, or some character development to get a kickstart on your next story! Prep resources will start officially coming out from the website on October 6th.
Even though we are in the ‘offseason’ don’t forget that there’s a new goal-tracker on the website to help you keep track and reach your writing goals throughout the year along with prep and editing resources. More features like these will be coming soon once the new website launches!
There’s currently some stock on sale in the store from previous NaNo’s so if you didn’t pick up a shirt or wanted a poster from a previous year you participated check out the store now to see if they have one available!
Sign ups are now available to become an official Come Write In location. NaNoWriMo’s Come Write In (CWI) program connects libraries, bookstores, and other neighborhood spaces with their local NaNoWriMo participants (or Wrimos) to build vibrant writing communities. Every November, thousands of writers around the world congregate at Come Write In spaces to pursue their creative dreams and write the first draft of their novel. Business can sign up on the website at https://nanowrimo.org/come-write-in . So if you have a favorite coffeeshop, restaurant, or other space you enjoy to write at suggest to them that you’d like them to sign up!
As always if you have any questions relating to NaNoWriMo please don’t hesitate to ask your local Municipal Liaison (ML) Sarah Shuttleworth at Sarahlcsnano@gmail.com
